New mental health, dementia and neurology intelligence network

29 June 2014

On June 19, Public Health England launched an online tool to bring together in one place nationally reported data sources on mental health, dementia and neurology and present them by local area. The aim is to help commissioners, providers and other stakeholders see how their local services are doing and how they compare with other areas. Local partners can then use this information to improve outcomes for service users and the wider community.

The new Mental Health, Dementia and Neurology Intelligence Network (www.yhpho.org.uk/mhdnin) website includes profiling tools for common mental health disorders, severe mental illness, community mental health profiles and neurology.

There are plans to provide new profiles later this year, covering Children and Young People’s Mental Health, co-existing mental health and addictions issues and dementia.

The launch of the new Mental Health, Dementia and Neurology Intelligence Networks (MHDNIN) represents a “revolution in information”, according to Dr Geraldine Strathdee, NHS England’s National Clinical Director for Mental Health (pictured).

The website is the result partnership working between 13 national agencies that provide mental health information.
