This research represents the largest survey of its kind in Europe, providing ground- breaking data on trans people’s mental health needs and experiences, explored in the context of daily life, social/support mechanisms and when accessing healthcare and mental health services. The work, based on a sample of 889 participants with a wide range of trans identities and backgrounds, demonstrates the positive mental health and physical wellbeing advantages of supporting transition, as well as contributing further to understanding the levels faced or seen by trans people. The report has several recommendations for how health provision and support can be improved.
